You’ve critical role to play towards successful census – Minister tells Emir of Kano, others

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Thursday said the traditional institutions have a critical role to play towards the successful conduct of the 2023 National population and Housing Census exercise.

Mohammed stated this when he lead National Census Publicity Committee on a courtesy visit on the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero at his palace in Kano.

The Minister represented by the Director General, National Orientation Agency, Dr. Garba Abari, said the traditional institutions have a vital role to play in enlightening their subjects on the need to fully participate in the census exercise.

He said the aim of forming the national census publicity committee was to create more awareness on the importance of the population census to the development of the nation.

The Minister noted that the committee is holding a town hall meeting with the aim of engaging will all stakeholders to achieved the set objectives.

“We are sure that our outing would play a significant role in reaching out to the general populace, so that they be well informed on the importance of this national assignment to the development of the Nation,” the Minister, Mohammed however stated.

Responding, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero assured the Federal Government that kano emirate would accord all the needed support in ensuring a successful population census exercise in the state.

The Emir who was represented by the Madakin Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nabahani Chidari however applauded the foresight and commitment of the Federal Government for constituting the committee.

Meanwhile, members of the committee include the Director Generals of FRCN, NTA, VON, president of NUJ, and Nigerian Guild of Editors among others.
